I am ethnic Vietnamese and identify as she/her. I was born in refuge at the end of the Vietnam War where I arrived into the world 20 days after our boat landed in Hong Kong. I arrived to America as a young child and experienced the personal and societal challenges that came with being raised in a culturally Vietnamese language home. As a sensitive young person with emotional awareness, I remember longing to seek ways of making sense of my connection to the world. I curiously found yoga as a college student where it became part of my personal healing journey, unknowingly at first, as I was drawn to its practice of allowing me to be in direct communication with my body from a felt sense of being.
After exploring yoga and other contemplative practices for almost 20 years alongside 15 years of work in the corporate industry, my practice transformed into deeper self-inquiry and in 2018 I found myself in yoga training, completing 500HR certification from Tara Glazier at Abhaya Yoga in Brooklyn, NY. I soon found my new path and left an unhealthy corporate environment to pursue wellness fulltime. In addition to yoga and healing work, I work with Robin to support mental well-being and social emotional learning in New York City school communities.
Yoga is a practice of self-knowledge and skill in action that awakens my mind-body experience, and not without challenges, continues to help me find the right balance for both personal and inter-relational harmony. As a teacher, I am guided by my own somatic experiencing of the practice and impart embodied knowledge and life energy from a lens of mindfulness and compassion of my Buddhist lineage alongside the dharmic teachings of yoga. My yoga training includes hatha yoga, anusara, vinyasa, restorative yoga, trauma-informed, ayurveda, reiki and yoga therapy. My offerings balance yin and yang, where I enjoy sharing both the energetic and restorative qualities of yoga to reveal what is nourishing and transformative.
Our unique healing journeys can emerge as a source of healing for others - my intention is to help clients discover their own well-being, honoring where they are today and what serves them in their unique mind-body state through support, openness, and non-judgment. As I evolve in my wellness journey, I am guided by the wisdom, lessons of hardships, and blessings of my ancestors, and continually seek to be in relation to the essence and spirit of our nature and each other as a collective. I am grateful to share what I learn from my teachers as well as the experiential process of learning with students and clients.
I live in Brooklyn, NY with my daughter, Maxine, and have family in Washington, DC and Vietnam.
